Preston was so excited for Super Sam to meet Jack Frost! The October kindergarten stories from Waldorf Essentials had hinted that Jack Frost would soon be arriving in the forest, and Preston just. could. not. wait. Every day he asked me if today's story would be about Jack Frost. But for two long weeks, Jack Frost did not come. The first week of the month, the story was about a farmer harvesting a very large potato (a spin-off of the folk tale about the giant turnip), and Preston did love that story very much. He enthusiastically helped our puppets pull up the pretend potato each day during story time. The second week, the focus was on Super Sam's lantern walk. Finally, the third week of the month....
and Jack Frost came!
(This meant a second little knitting project in the wee hours of the morning for Mom....)

In preparation for Thanksgiving, the kids took all the kernels off of our Indian corn (a perfect kindergarten activity for little fingers!).
And then on Thanksgiving Day, they all made corn necklaces.
Even the 13-year-old insisted on participating.
I'm so glad they're just never too old for some things.
