Christmas Eve

The good news was that our Paperwhite Narcissus bloomed in time for Christmas for the first time ever.

Our Advent garden was all ready to receive the Christ Child in the empty manger.

And that's about where the good news ended.

All three children woke up really sick on the morning of Christmas Eve:

Poor Preston was so desperate he laid down on the piano bench.

At 2:00 pm I found Preston asleep on the floor:

At 5:00 or 6:00 pm he was zonked out on the couch:

Preston and Dallin kept each other company.

At 7:30 pm we did manage to get a picture in their new Christmas PJ's.

And our Christmas Eve devotional was able to happen.  In fact, being sick mellowed them out pretty well, so we had quite a nice little candle-lighting and scripture-reading.

They even managed to watch a Christmas Eve movie before falling asleep.  And then Santa and Mrs Claus got to work.

This play kitchen has been my project the past few weeks, meaning plenty of very late nights trying to work after the kids were in bed.  We were up till 1:00 am Christmas Eve putting on the cabinet doors, and I stayed up till 3:00 am the night before staining it.  (It still needs one more coat.)
