On the Fourth of July we took a ferry ride with all of the extended family to Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound. My children had never been on a boat, so this was particularly exciting. Dallin saw a large purple jellyfish in the water just off the pier. He was told that was quite a rare sighting, so he felt very proud of himself.
Whidbey Island is beautiful--wooded and green. First stop was Fort Casey State Park, home to a former military base back in WWII days that overlooks the water.

A short distance away from the fort was the Admiralty Head lighthouse.

And in that tree next to the lighthouse, just yards from the path on which we were walking, was a....
... bald eagle! In the wild. On the Fourth of July. It was an amazing sight!
On the next leg of our drive, we saw deer grazing.
Next stop was the beach.
Sariah was in HEAVEN. She absolutely adores water!
