In honor of our last day of school and also our gardening/insect lesson block, we went on a field trip to Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City. It was so gratifying to hear Dallin exclaim, as we sat eating our picnic lunch, "Mom, this place is so beautiful!" I'm glad that my rough-and-tumble, action and adventure-loving, sports-minded kid can appreciate quiet beauty.
Smelling the mint.
Cool mushroom.
Getting wet (of course!)
Tunnels
Trying to pet the fish
Squirrel (chipmunk?)
We had a great time! It was a beautiful day, not too cold and not too hot. Preston was content in the wrap for several hours. The visitor's center had naturalist backpacks for the kids, but the only things they were interested in were the magnifying glasses, so guess who got to carry two backpacks, the diaper bag, and the baby? But all is all, it was a wonderful day!
