As usual, our field trip was quite the adventure! Murphy's Law definitely seems to apply to us! We took one of Dallin's friends this time, since the regular kids were off school. As usual we were an hour late getting out of the house. And then we made it 10 miles and I realized I'd forgotten my purse, so we had to go all the way back home and get it. From that point on everything seemed to proceed smoothly. We went to Silver Lake at Brighton in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The lake was beautiful, the weather delightful, and the kids were having a blast. They collected sticks, got to see a duck up close and personal, and got to watch an adorable little squirrel who seemed to be looking right and them and very purposefully interacting with them. And they got to climb a very huge rock cliff (even Sariah went all the way to the top by herself without falling, much to Mom's relief!)
