We are still here...

I've been a very neglectful blogger lately. There is just not much going on, at least nothing that would lend itself to a funny, articulate, or even informative blog post. Dallin has three more days of school after this holiday weekend, and we are all counting down. The entire family is burned out on school. Thursday night we realized that Dallin had a spelling test the next morning, and not once had any of us given it even a passing thought during the week. We totally spaced it! Dallin's last pass-off chapter book never even got opened. He just didn't have it in him to read it, and we sent it back to school without ever being passed off.

Our kitchen floor is basically done, but the few little spots that aren't quite finished have sat unfinished for two weeks. Neither James nor I have the motivation to finish them. We are still sans baseboards, and we still need to paint. Our caseworker comes this week to update our homestudy, so maybe that will be enough of an incentive to get it done? We did finally get the garden planted, at least.

I couldn't get Dallin in this picture for anything, but at least Sariah looks sweet, all dressed up for church. She is growing up so much, turning FOUR in just two months.

After church today we drove down to Provo to decorate James' family graves for Memorial Day. The highlight of the experience was getting to hunt for our lovely dog, who sneaked out of the car while we were unloading. Have you ever tried to find a little white dog in a humongous cemetery filled with hundreds of people, almost as many cars, and pots and pots of mums? (Kinda funny--NOT!--how the white mums all seem to look like little white dogs. Or maybe it's the little white dogs that look like white mums.) But miraculously, we found her! After Dallin said we should say a prayer. Some lady found her and put her in her car. This lady happened to be standing next to the road as we drove slowly by, windows down... she overhead us having a conversation in our car about whether or not we could see the dog. Pretty amazing, really, that we happened to be talking loudly right when she happened to be standing within hearing distance. This is the fourth time Zoey has run away in the past few weeks. There is nothing quite like being awaked at 7:30 am by one's spouse, urging everybody to get dressed and go hunt for a dog, then spending 45 minutes driving around looking for her before you've even had breakfast. Except, maybe, trying to hunt for a dog in a huge cemetery on Memorial Day weekend.

But the rest of the trip was pretty uneventful.

We planted flowers.

We watered them.

We attempted to get a picture of mom and the kids. Pretty sad that this one was the best one, huh?
