The date: Thursday evening of Holy Week
The location: Family room floor.
The setting: On a sheet. (OK, not authentic, but important for clean-up and Mom's sanity.) No chairs, plates, or utensils allowed. I'm sure our serving bowls were not authentic either, but they are all we had.
The agenda: Light a candle. Read the scriptural account of the Last Supper. Eat!
The menu: bulgur and red onion pilaf, seasoned with cinnamon, coriander, and mint; flatbread; cucumbers; cantaloupe; grapes; olives; dried apricots; almonds; white grape juice (because red grape juice, Sariah, and my carpet would be a disaster waiting to happen. We all know that my carpet doesn't have a good track record!). Other choices that we opted out of: lentils, raisins, dates, figs, yogurt, goat cheese.
