I've decided that sometimes our 21st century technology and the ability to photograph or blog every second of every day might have some downsides. Maybe in some ways it's better to have fuzzy memories of the past, rather than clear ones. With that in mind, I'm not going to share the reality of our Christmas Eve. I'm just going to post a few photos and rely on time to make the evening perfect in my memory.
(Honestly, it was quite a nice evening all in all, and "those" moments just don't need to be captured and made permanent.)
We had Grandma for dinner, then gathered at the table to light candles, sing carols, and read the Christmas Story. Then the kids opened the obligatory pajamas and Grandma opened her gifts from us. After that, we took a ride in the van where Mom read stories and then popped in a recording of Lessons and Carols from Kings College in Cambridge, England. (There is nothing like Christmas Eve with carols, choirs, and organ!) Sariah fell asleep in the car, and Dallin followed soon after we got home.
Enough said.

They can hardly contain themselves!
New PJ's and big hugs.
And my favorite moment of every Christmas Eve: the moment when Santa looks back on his (her?) work with satisfaction and gets ready to head to bed. I love the stillness of the eve, the magic that has just been created, every crazy moment that led up to this....
(Dallin has a gift too, but it's too big to be under the tree and therefore is out of camera range.)
