Baking Day

Wednesday is normally Baking Day at our house, and today was a marathon!

Gee, do you think we own enough cookie cutters?

"Chop, chop, chippety chop, cut off the bottom and cut off the top...."  (I promise, it's just a butter knife.)

In a Martha Stewart baking magazine last year, I saw these cool cut-out cookies where a wood-grain had been imprinted on the dough using a special mat.  This year I had the idea of doing the same thing with Sariah's patterned playdough rolling pins.  It worked!

I'm not sure cookie presses are worth the effort, even if Spritz does look so pretty.

Voila, a whole day in the kitchen and finally something to show for it!  Unfortunately, Dallin decided that playing with friends was more fun that making cookies with boring ole' mom and sis.  But hey, that was his loss, right?  We had a blast!  I'm even crazy enough to think I might make another batch or two of something else tomorrow!

Your little girl is so adorable! I wish that I could see some closeups of the pattern on the cookies. You are way ahead of me on holiday baking!
