Random acts of cuteness and mischief, as well as updates

Sariah, my girly-girl, trying on no less than three baby dresses that I wore when I was a baby.

A mixture of hand soap, lotion, and candle-wax (!), all pasted together on my bathroom mirror with lots and lots of water. Sariah thinks it's fun to sit in the sink in her birthday suit and take a "hot tub" bath, but she apparently feels the need to keep her hands busy while she's "relaxing". Did you know that candle wax and water turn into a disgusting, gloppy mess?

Our happy updates:

Sariah is well on her way to being potty-trained. I tried to resist, but Daddy's idea of using candy as a bribe is what did the trick. It took her a few days to get into it, but now she is in underwear all the time when we're home, with no accidents, and is rarely having accidents when we're out and about in diapers. She is waking up dry some mornings (though that's hard to do when you wake up multiple times a night in the middle of the night).

Dallin learned how to tie his shoes! Mommy started a new tradition to celebrate milestones like this--whenever someone overcomes an obstacle or learns a new skill, we'll light a candle at dinner to honor the occasion. Dallin initially thought that kind of celebration was rather boring; he would have much preferred to get a treat.

Dallin's reading is coming along so well! He's passing off books so quickly, and his efforts aren't quite so laborious. Mommy is feeling vindicated in her insistence that young children don't need to be pushed into academics too early.
