This is the best-ever recipe for homemade playdough. It's easy and fast (under 10 minutes, start to finish). It makes a ton, and unlike store-bought playdough, it doesn't get sticky.
2 c flour
1 c. salt
4 tsp cream of tartar
2 c. water
2 T oil
food coloring
Mix flour, salt, and cream of tartar in heavy pan. Add water, oil, and food coloring. Heat on stove for 3 minutes or until mixture pulls away from pan. Remove from heat and knead immediately. Store in airtight container. Keeps for several months. Keeps one 2-year-old occupied long enough for mommy to clean the kitchen!
