Dallin is lucky enough to have his birthday fall on Pioneer Day--he thinks he's pretty cool because he gets a parade and fireworks on his birthday. He actually still gets it mixed up with the Fourth of July, because that day comes with exactly the same kinds of festivities. He's going to be in for a rude awakening if we move out of Utah and July 24th becomes just another day of the week.
Anyway, here in our town Pioneer Day is a big deal. The highlight is a children's parade sponsored by the local stakes, with a carnival afterward. Our ward does a float each year, and this year was no exception:
Dallin's not too sure about all this... either that or he's trying to look "cool".
Dallin did the obstacle course at least 3 times.

Dad and Sariah watching the parade, with Grandma and Aunt L in the background.
As a reward for suffering through insanely hot temperatures to ride on the float, the kids got a popsicle from their Primary leaders when it was all over. (Sariah calls it a "sicklepox".)
Here's Dallin coming in from the sack race.
Sariah and Daddy with the balloon doggy.
Since I'm in the stake primary, I got the fun of being in charge of the rootbeer chug that our stake did.
We went home to do fireworks in the street with cousins.
I love this day! I will be sad if and when we move to a place that doesn't do Pioneer Day (which would be most of the United States). The chances are great that this is our last one like this.
