Leadville was an interesting place. It was a stark contrast to Aspen, which I'll describe in my next installment. Leadville was a town whose time had come and had long since gone. I think it must have been quite the place in its heyday, but when we visited, it was a rundown village of ramshackle, though gaily-painted, Victorian cottages. However, the Leadville Train was so fun! It was completely worth the money and definitely one of the highlights of our trip! (It's probably about the only thing Leadville has going for it, though the mountain setting is a plus, too.)
Here are Grandma and RiRi. We were able to get seats on adjacent cars, one open and one with a roof, and that way we were able to go back and forth between seats depending on whether we wanted shade or the warm sun.
Sariah had a wonderful time, too. The ride lasted 2.5 hours, and she never got bored or fussy. (She did get a sunburn. We left the sunscreen back at the condo. Oops!)

Dallin was enthralled with the whole experience!
