School's Out!

Can you tell today was the first day of summer vacation? Even though it rained this morning and wasn't particularly warm outside the rest of the day, Dallin and his friend N had a blast running through the sprinklers.

Yesterday was the last day of school. Dallin got his teacher assignment for next year, and it was the one we requested. He also got his progress report, and did very well, even better than we expected! He got "3's" on almost everything that was assessed. A "3" means that he is proficient at grade level. He only got one "2" (approaching grade level), and that was on writing his name because he still likes to mix up the capital and lower case letters in interesting ways. He passed off every one of his sight words--that surprised me because at home he still had a couple he struggled with. All in all, I was very pleased with his progress. He had a great year of school! I can't believe it's over. It seems like you spend all the years from the time your baby is born thinking about when they go to kindergarten.... and then kindergarten is all done. My baby is growing up!
