Camping

We were lucky enough to spend two nights camping at Rainier National Park in
Washington.  As Dallin put it, "This is nothing like Utah."  The area we camped in was at a lower elevation and old growth forest, so the trees were exceedingly tall.  The climate was very humid, especially for us desert-dwellers.  It was also much warmer than we expected.

It was so much fun to camp with our extended family.  By the end of the week, the kids were acting more like siblings than cousins, but they still had loads of fun.

Dallin saved up his money to buy this little pup tent (he kept calling it a "poppy tent").  He loved having a bit of independence and sleeping in his own tent with his cousin E.  I tried very hard not to be nervous about it.  Hello, what if a bear came in the middle of the night and ripped him away?  Doesn't every mom worry about things like that?

Preston loved roaming.  That pretty much sums it all up.

Dallin and Dad played a lot of frisbee.

Right at the edge of the campground was a raging river.  Just so in case no bear came to rip my children away, one of them could fall in the river and drown.

However, it was a very beautiful raging river...

Preston is happy as long as he has a stack of rocks to throw in the water.
