You know how people always share those cute little stories of the adorable things their kids said in their prayers? I always envied people like that. Dallin's prayers have always been like a race to see how fast he could get through it and how few things he could get away with saying without mom and dad making him try again.
Until now.
See my post below about the 12 Apostles and the way fun song Dallin learned in Primary to remember all their names. Well now that he knows their names--sort of--they are getting prayed for regularly at our house.
"...please bless President Monson. And please bless President Uchtdorf. And President Eyering. And please bless football star. And Dallin H. Oaks. " [He likes Dallin H. Oaks because they share a name.) "And the X to the Y." [Because "David A. Bednar changed Ricks to the Y".} At this point he's usually laughing so hard that we have to tell him to bless the food and say Amen.
Sariah is learning to pray too, and she loves it when Dallin is the one to help her. Can you imagine how long a prayer over the twelve apostles takes when each one's name has to be said twice?
Dallin and Sariah enjoy their tag-teamed prayers:
Dallin: Say "Bless Mommy"
Sariah: "Mommy"
Dallin: "Please bless Daddy"
Sariah: "Daddy"
Dallin: "Bless Ri Ri"
Sariah: "Dallin"
Dallin: "Bless Ri Ri!"
Sariah: "Dallin!"
Dalllin: "OK, bless Dallin"
Sariah "Ri Ri!"
Meanwhile, the food is getting colder and colder...
