Aspen is quite the place! I love to go to Park City, Utah, and it is one place that I consider to be very beautiful. Aspen makes Park City look like nothing! The mountain setting is just unparalleled for its beauty. The city of Aspen has capitalized on that natural beauty to create a town that reflects and magnifies it. My landscape-architect brother would have been so impressed with the city planning and beautification efforts. I know I was!
I have to say that Aspen is probably the ritziest place I've ever been as well. The average price for homes in the area is 4.5 million! Everybody was dressed to the nines, even those wearing "casual" attire. (Except for us, of course, coming off of our day in the mountains.) Nobody besides me was tacky enough to take pictures. I decided I didn't care what anybody thought, though--I wasn't letting any memories get away. I never saw a single fast food restaurant in Aspen. James said he saw a McDonald's, but it was disguised. It must have been disguised well, because I never noticed it. There were no strip malls, no grocery stores within view, no ugliness whatsoever.
There were statues on just about every corner. Note the rock and brick sidewalks too.
This bear was made completely of nails! Unfortunately for Dallin, this was as close to a real bear as we got.
